Cheer Girls with LMFYALake Mary Rams Pop Warner offers a great experience for girls who want to cheer for a team and also participate in exhibitions or competitions.  We have squads for children in Kindergarten through 8th grade.  Each squad is divided by age and grade level.  Our season runs from August 1st until November for our younger squads and through December for our older squads.
Our coaches are volunteers, if you are interested in coaching, please fill out a volunteer and coaches application.

If your home is zoned in our area, we invite you to join our award winning cheerleading squads! No prior experience is necessary. Our squads consist of up to 35 cheerleaders. Our purpose is to provide our participants with a fun season filled with cheerleading instruction where, at the season end, the squad presents a 2 1/2 minute routine at our Mid Florida Cheer Championship.

We have squads for children ages 5-14. Teams are divided based on age and grade. The Cheer Coordinator has final decision on squad assignments.

We begin with our fittings and a parent meeting in May. Our practices begin August 1, where teams will practice up to 10 hours per week. Beginning in September and through the season end, practices will be 6 hours per week. All competition teams can expect to practice on Sundays after 12:30 p.m. Tiny Mites and Mitey Mites end their season in late October. Competition teams cheer - Jr. Pee Wee through Varsity - through the 2nd week in December. The Southeast Regional Competition is Thanksgiving weekend and all team members are expected to participate.

Coaches are volunteers that are carefully selected based on cheerleading knowledge, background and experience. We also use Jr. Coaches which consist of high school cheerleaders and alumni from our program.

Our focus is on fun and physical fitness as we develop skills that will allow many to continue cheering in high school. We begin our season with cheering for our respective football teams. Games are held on Saturday's and we do travel locally. As we move into September we begin to work on competition routines where the focus is on tumbling, stunting and dance. Our teams compete at the Mid Florida Cheer Championship held at the end of October. Teams placing in the top 2 advance to Regionals which is held over Thanksgiving weekend. This competition is held at various locations throughout Florida and may require travel. Those advancing to Nationals will compete the 2nd week in December at Disney's Wide World of Sports.



 

Cost

The cost of cheer is:

  1. $285 total
  2. $100 due at registration
  3. $185 due by May 1st

Practice Info

Our practices begin on August 1st each team will practice up to 10 hours per week.  After Labor Day the practices will decrease to a maximum of 6 hours per week.  Practice days and times are at the discretion of the coaching staff and association.  Practices may include Sundays. 

What to Wear

All of our cheerleaders will be supplied with a practice uniform that should be worn to all practices. Jewelry is not allowed. Nails should be cut short with no polish.  Game day uniforms need to be worn to the games, hair in high ponytail with game bow, cheer shoes and socks.  It is Mandatory to always have a large water bottle at all practices and games.

Competitions & Exhibitions

Our younger squads (Tiny Mite and Mitey Mite) will perform an exhibition routine Mid October.

Our older squads will start competition season at the end of October with Mid Florida, if they place in the top 2 of their division our regional competition is Thanksgiving weekend.  The top 2 from regional competition advance to nationals which takes place during the first week of December and will require the cheerleaders to miss a day of school.
